Directions:
1. Prepare Your Materials: Gather saddle soap, a clean, soft cloth or soft bristle brush and a second dry cloth for buffing.
2. Test First: If you’re using saddle soap on a leather item for the first time, test it on a small, inconspicuous area to ensure it doesn’t discolor or damage the leather.
3. Dampen the Leather (Optional): Lightly dampen the leather with water if it’s very dirty or dry. Be cautious not to soak it.
4. Apply Saddle Soap: Dampen a soft cloth or soft bristle brush with a small amount of water, then rub it gently onto the saddle soap to create a lather.
5. Clean the Leather: Gently rub the lathered cloth or brush onto the leather in circular motions. Focus on the areas that need cleaning, but avoid over-wetting the leather.
6. Wipe off Excess Soap: Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe off any excess soap and dirt from the leather. You may need to go over it a few times.
7. Buff and Condition: After cleaning, use a separate dry cloth to buff the leather. This will help restore the leather’s shine and softness. You can also use a leather conditioner after using saddle soap to keep the leather supple and prevent it from drying out.
8. Allow to Dry: Let the leather air dry away from direct heat or sunlight to avoid drying it out or causing cracks.
Using saddle soap regularly can help keep your leather items clean and conditioned for a longer lifespan.
